The DeSales Knights swam in the Neumann Catholic Swim League Championships last Sunday, November 10, at the University of Buffalo.
Top finishers included individually in the 8 & Under division, Johnathan Cordle secured 1st place in the 50 yard freestyle and 8th place in the 100 yard Individual Medley. Evelyn Couturier came in 8th place in the 25 Breaststroke. Cordle and Couturier also teamed up with Grace Keppler and Charlotte Sidote to seize a 14th place finish in the 100 yard medley Relay.
In the 9-10 division, Bethany Case walked away with a 8th place finish in the 100 yard Freestyle event and 10th place in the 100 yard Individual Medley. Samantha Fox earned a 14th place finish in the 50 yard Breaststroke and Jordan Kirchberger earned 5th in the 50 yard Butterfly and 5th in the 100 yard Individual Medley. Dylan Lamont was also a top finisher, touching the wall 2nd in the 50 yard Butterfly and 3rd in the 100 yard Freestyle. Case, Fox, Kirchberger and Lamont also teamed up earning a 4th place finish in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay and 6th in the 200 yard Medley Relay.
In the 11 and Older division, Lydia Lamont and Jillian Knuutila placed. Lamont earned a 12th place finish in her 50 yard freestyle event and a 10th place finish in her 50 yard Breaststroke event. While Knuutila nabbed a 14th place finish in the 50 yard Butterfly.
The Neumann Catholic Swim League consists of 18 teams with 751 swimmers in the league.
The Knights wrapped up their regular season holding on to a second place finish in Division 3 for the league.
DeSales is Eastern Niagara County’s only Catholic School, welcoming students of all faiths in preschool through eighth grade.
