The DeSales Knight swimmers recently competed at the 2021 Neumann Catholic Swim League Championships at the Town of Tonawanda Aquatic Center. The DeSales Knights represented their school well at the Championship event, which featured 13 teams from both Erie and Niagara Counties. Earning a first-place finish at the event was Weston Henning in the 50 yard backstroke for the 9 & 10 year old division. This was Weston’s first year on the team and is already a pivotal swimmer for the program.
Other top DeSales youth finishers in the 8 & under division included Harrison Hathaway, who finished eighth place in the 25 backstroke. Hathaway teamed up with Delilah Harrer, Kennedy King and Nicholas Shotell to seize a sixth place finish in the 100 yard medley relay. Hathaway, King and Shotell also teamed up with Rileigh Rankie to come in seventh place in the 100 yard freestyle relay.
In the 9-10 division, Weston Henning, in addition to his first place finish in the backstroke, also achieved a sixth place finish in the 100 yard freestyle event. Jonathan Cordle also performed well earning a third place finish in the 50 yard freestyle event and fourth in the 100 yard freestyle event. Henning and Cordle teamed up with Evelyn Couturier and Robert Hathaway earning a sixth place finish for the 200 yard freestyle relay.
The 11-Older Division also saw great success with Bethany Case achieving a seventh place finish in the 200 yard freestyle, Dylan Lamont earned a fourth place finish in the 200 yard Individual Medley and seventh place in the 50 yard breaststroke, Jordan Kirchberger touched fifth in the 50 yard butterfly and Nathan Tomaino tenth in the 200 yard freestyle. Case, Lamont and Kirchberger and Tomaino joined forces to come in eighth place in the 200 yard medley relay and tenth in the 200 yard freestyle relay.
The 8 and under age group for the DeSales Knights achieved first place in their division, overall the Knights wrapped up their regular season with a third place finish.
