Knights Secure League Championship

Parochial Baseball has been in Buffalo almost as long as the majors have been around. This year marks the 100th season of the league that pits private elementary schools against one another for the Cy Williams Cup. The DeSales Catholic School Knights played in the championship game under the lights at Canisius College on Tuesday and were victorious in claiming the Parochial Baseball League Championship title.  In the league’s 100 year history, this is the second time the Knights have claimed the Cup.

The Knights defeated St. Benedict’s 4 to 0. Graham Schultz pitched a complete game, no hit shutout for DeSales, striking out 11 along the way. Providing the scoring for DeSales were Dominic Leo with a 2 run homer, and Noah Bohlman with a double driving in 2 runs. Brandon Wiepert added a double, while Drew Walker, Cam Wiepert, Levi Henning, and Jake Hale all had hits for DeSales.  Cavan Burke, Sam Bohlman, and Connor Frank all pitched in with solid defensive efforts. This championship team was led by Coach Zach Bohlman, Assistant Coach Lou Wiepert and comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th graders from DeSales.
