Lockport, NY – Fourteen DeSales Catholic School students were recognized by the Niagara Police Athletic League as part of the "Do The Right Thing" program. The program is designed to positively impact the youth of Niagara County by publicly recognizing children who distinguish themselves through their behavior and by establishing themselves as role models for their peers.
The following students were recognized; 8th graders, Karoline Griffin and Dominic Leo; 7th grader, Jordan Kirchberger; 6th graders Siri Betsch and Courtney Parent; 5th grader Dellah Anterline; 2nd graders Silvia Hay and Ella Torcasio; 1st graders Nora Celatto, Avari Timkey, Tommy Voss, Grace DeFlippo, Olivia Dembowski and Layla DelPriore.
The students were nominated by a teacher for showing leadership and kindness in their school community. Teachers commented on how this group of young people consistently helped fellow students, demonstrated kindness and showed concern for others. Two members of the Niagara County Sheriff were on hand to help DeSales Principal, Mrs. Karen Rahill present the awards.
Every other month children from the Niagara County area, on the basis of their exemplary behavior/attitude can be nominated by teachers, police officers, youth leaders, and the public for the "Do The Right Thing" award.
