DeSales Knights Make a Splash at League Championships

Lockport NY-   Two DeSales swimmers secured first place finishes at the Neumann League Swim Championship held on Sunday, November 13th at the University of Buffalo.  Joseph Cassenti swimming in the 8 and under age group brought in 2 first place finishes with the 25 Butterfly and 100 Individual Medley. While Dylan Lamont in the 11 and over age group earned a first-place finish in the 200 Individual Medley. The team earned first place in their division in all three age groups: 8 and under, 9/10 and 11 and over. Overall, the team came in 3rd place out of 15 teams.  

The team saw many personal best times by the swimmers throughout the Championship meet. Other top individual finishers in the 8 & Under division, in conjunction to Cassenti, were Addison Beiter with a 3rd place finish in the 25 Breaststroke, Jude Genewick earning a 7th place finish in the 25-yard Backstroke, Silvia Hay with an 8th place finish in the 25-yard Freestyle and a 10th place finish in the 50 yard Freestyle and Jack Stockton with a 6th place finish in the 25 yard Backstroke. The Medley relay team of Jack Stockton, Rileigh Rankie, Joseph Cassenti and Silvia Hay touched the wall first earning another championship gold for the team. Stockton, Cassenti and Hay also teamed up with Jude Genewick for the Freestyle relay coming in with a proud 4th place finish.  

In the 9-10 division, Jonathan Cordle brought in a 2nd place finish in the 50-yard Freestyle and a 3rd place in the 50-yard Backstroke and Evelyn Couturier earned a 10th place finish in the 50-yard Breaststroke. In the Medley relay Cordle and Couturier teamed up with Alexa Deflippo and Caroline Webster to bring in a 5th place finish. While the team of Harrison Hathaway, Delilah Harrer, Kennedy King and Amelia Pettit brought in a 10th place finish. The team of Cordle, Webster, Deflippo and Couturier also brought in a 5th place finish in the Freestyle relay event.  

The 11 and Over division which included graduating 8th graders Bethany Case, Jordan Kirchberger and Dylan Lamont excelled. In addition to Dylan Lamont earning a 1st place finish in the 200 Individual Medley he also brought in a 2nd place finish in the 50 yard Breaststroke, Bethany Case finished with a 4th place in the 200-yard freestyle and 8th in the 100-yard freestyle, Weston Henning brought in a 6th place finish in the 200-yard Freestyle and 5th in the 50-yard Backstroke while Jordan Kirchberger earned a 3rd place finish in both the 200 Individual Medley and 50-yard Butterfly. The relay team of Henning, Lamont, Kirchberger and Case came in with a 3rd place finish in the Medley relay. Case, Lamont and Kirchberger also teamed up with Samantha Fox earning a 3rd place finish in the Freestyle relay as well.
