Celebrate Catholic Ed Dinner Recognizes DeSales Volunteers

On October 26th, six regional catholic schools in Niagara County hosted a dinner to ‘Celebrate- Catholic Education in Niagara.’ The six participating schools include DeSales Catholic School, Sacred Heart Villa School, St. Peter Roman Catholic School, Stella Niagara, Catholic Academy and Niagara Catholic.  This year’s dinner was celebrated at Antonio’s Banquet Center in Niagara Falls. The Most Rev. Richard Malone was in attendance.

Two local Lockport Residents were recognized at this year’s dinner for their contributions and volunteerism at DeSales Catholic School, Howard Morgan and Mike Mullane.  Howard Morgan has been involved with DeSales for over 16 years serving on a number of DeSales’ committees including; the Hall of Fame, the Board of Trustees and the Advancement Committee.  Howard also volunteered as a Swim Coach while his children attended the catholic elementary school. Mike Mullane comes from a long line of DeSales graduates.  His father, uncle, siblings, children and many nieces and nephews have attended the catholic school on Chestnut Ridge Road.  Mullane, a graduate of DeSales High School class of 1974, has been an active member of the DeSales Advancement Committee, the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees.  In addition to these roles Mullane has also served as Co-Chair of the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. Both Morgan and Mullane were recognized for their contributions by Bishop Mallone at the event.

DeSales is Eastern Niagara County’s only Catholic School, welcoming students of all faiths in Pre-School through Eighth grade.  For more information call (716) 433-6422 or visit www.desalescatholicschool.org.
