DeSales Swim Team Finishes Season with Championships

 

The DeSales Knights swam in the Neumann Catholic Swim League Championships last Sunday, November 10, at the University of Buffalo.

 

Top finishers included individually in the 8 & Under division, Johnathan Cordle secured 1st place in the 50 yard freestyle and 8th place in the 100 yard Individual Medley. Evelyn Couturier came in 8th place in the 25 Breaststroke. Cordle and Couturier also teamed up with Grace Keppler and Charlotte Sidote to seize a 14th place finish in the 100 yard medley Relay.

 

In the 9-10 division, Bethany Case walked away with a 8th place finish in the 100 yard Freestyle event and 10th place in the 100 yard Individual Medley.  Samantha Fox earned a 14th place finish in the 50 yard Breaststroke and Jordan Kirchberger earned 5th in the 50 yard Butterfly and 5th in the 100 yard Individual Medley. Dylan Lamont was also a top finisher, touching the wall 2nd in the 50 yard Butterfly and 3rd in the 100 yard Freestyle. Case, Fox, Kirchberger and Lamont also teamed up earning a 4th place finish in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay and 6th in the 200 yard Medley Relay.

 

In the 11 and Older division, Lydia Lamont and Jillian Knuutila placed.   Lamont earned a 12th place finish in her 50 yard freestyle event and a 10th place finish in her 50 yard Breaststroke event. While Knuutila nabbed a 14th place finish in the 50 yard Butterfly.

 

The Neumann Catholic Swim League consists of 18 teams with 751 swimmers in the league.

The Knights wrapped up their regular season holding on to a second place finish in Division 3 for the league.

 

DeSales is Eastern Niagara County’s only Catholic School, welcoming students of all faiths in preschool through eighth grade.

Knights are League Champs

 

The DeSales JV baseball team took home the Parochial School Baseball 2019 JV Fall Catholic League Championship. On Monday, the Knights secured the league title with a win against St. Benedict’s.  The Knights pitching was instrumental to the win, allowing the St. Ben’s Tigers just 1 hit. Graham Schultz, Noah Bohlman, and Brendan Sheldon combined to strike-out 12 batters. Noah Bohlman, and Brendan Sheldon also drove in 5 runs for DeSales while Brandon Wiepert chipped in with 2 hits, including an RBI. Drew Walker added a triple. E. Moore scored once for the Knights, while Cameron Wiepert, Sam Bohlman, and Lucas McCabe all played solid defense to help seal the victory. The final game score was 9 to 1. 

Coached by Zach Bohlman, the Knights finished their regular season a perfect record of 10 and 0.

DeSales Hosts Annual Cash Raffle

DeSales Hosts Annual Cash Raffle

DeSales Catholic School and the DeSales Home School Association invites the community to their Annual Cash Raffle on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 7:30 - 10:00pm at the Lockport Town & Country Club, 717 East Avenue in Lockport.  This year’s event is co-chaired by Madonna Walker and Amy Scapelliti. Tickets include admission for two adults to a party featuring delicious food and beverages, and one entry into the drawing for a chance at prizes of $5,000; $1,000 and $500. Ticket holders need not be present to win.  Additional drawings will be held throughout the evening for $125 cash prizes, a grand prize entertainment basket raffle and a 50/50 split prize.   Ticket prices are $125 presale or $150 at the door. To purchase a presale ticket, stop by the DeSales Main office, 6914 Chestnut Ridge Road, Lockport, or by phone at (716) 433-6422 ext 407.  Doors will open at 7:00pm on the 15th.

DeSales Student Senate Elects Officers

Students at DeSales Catholic School announced their new student leadership. The following students were elected by their peers to be officers in the Student Senate for the 2019-2020 school year; Riley Doty (President), Jillian Knuutila (Vice President), Hunter Lilley (Secretary) and Cameron Gilson (Sergeant at Arms).
