Varsity Knights Win in First Round of Playoffs

The DeSales Knights Varsity baseball team won their first round playoff game 10-7 against Northern Chautauqua Catholic School at Delaware Park on Monday afternoon. NCCS came storming back with 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game at 7. DeSales broke the tie with three runs in the 7th and Karl Darling (2 hits) earned the save with very strong pitching in the bottom of the inning. Jason Buzak scored a "home run" on a walk in the top of the 7th. Ball 4 got away from the catcher and Buzak hustled to 1st, stole 2nd and turned on the after burners when the ball ended up in center field. He never broke stride and scored standing up. Chris Goyette was in command on the mound through 3 innings. Next up is a semi-final matchup on Wednesday at Delaware against North Buffalo Power - St. Mark's.
