DeSales Celebrates Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame

“Enshrining Our Past, Ensuring Our Future."

DeSales Catholic School congratulates our 2014 inductees into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.

Mary Carol (Bracken) Marotta - SJA, 1950

Sr. Mary Loretto (Hamm) SSMN - SJA, 1930

David R. Kinyon - DCHS, 1968

William A. Kirsch - DCHS, 1950

Jim and Jack Mullane - DCHS, 1950

The 2014 inductees were honored at a dinner on October 9th at Classics V Banquets, and a Mass at DeSales on October 10th.

The Hall of Fame was created to annually honor outstanding graduates of the Catholic schools in Lockport, living or deceased, who have achieved distinction in their lives and careers after graduation. Inductees embody the teachings of the school's patron, St. Francis de Sales, as they excel in their professional, volunteer and family lives.  Bearing the motto "Enshrining Our Past, Ensuring Our Future," induction into the distinguished alumni hall of fame serves as the highest honor bestowed by Desales Catholic School.

To suggest a graduate for consideration in the DeSales Distinguished Alumni hall of fame, please submit a nomination form. The deadline for nominations for the 2015 induction is May 31, 2015.

support desales while you do your shopping!

scrip certificates make great gifts!!!             use them for your own purchases, too!!

when you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used like cash. scrip is purchased at face value and each retailer gives desales a rebate, anywhere from 2% to 25% of the face value of the certificate.

click here to visit our home school page for a printable version of the order form.

    protecting god's children workshop

the diocese of buffalo requires that all parents and adults who work or volunteer at desales must attend educational workshops to learn the methods of recognizing, reporting, and preventing sexual misconduct involving children and others. visit virtusonline to register and find a list of workshops being held within our diocese.

desales library catalog available online

families now have access to the desales school library online, through ipac - internet public access catalog.  thanks to a grant from a generous supporter, our library's card catalog was computerized in 2008, and all lending materials are now checked in and out using a bar code scanner.

this online catalog allows users to search our library’s holdings in a variety of ways:

quick search allows you to search using keyword, subject, title, author and several additional options including “sounds like.”this is a phonetic search tool which is helpful with hard to spell search terms and for children that are learning to spell.

easy search allows you to explore the library using the methods similar to popular search engines.

advanced search options are also available.

once a desired item is located, details regarding the book, including its availability in the library, can be displayed.

students can use the web-based catalog to conduct research at home and create a “bookbag”of desired items. the bookbag’s contents can be printed and brought to the library to help locate items much more quickly.  parents can also search the catalog with their children at home, to help select materials to borrow on library day. click here to access the online card catalog.

Growing in Faith

the strong enrollment at desales prompted a major renovation and expansion effort at our school beginning in 2005.  click here for more detailed information about our classroom and chapel expansion project.  desales is grateful to bob burke and kevin mckenna at rb mac construction, and matt mcintyre of oakhurst development for their skill and hard work.  the project wrapped up in the summer of 2007 with the completion of the elizabeth ann seton chapel and the three bonus classrooms on the ground floor. bishop kmiec joined our students for a mass of dedication on october 3, 2007. you can click here to see photos from this celebration.  thank you to all those who generously supported our capital campaign.

Make your voice heard!

The NY state Catholic bishops have formed a statewide advocacy network of concerned Catholics who want to put their faith into action. Together, we can speak out in support of the poor and vulnerable, the sick and elderly, the unborn, children and families. DeSales encourages you to join this free network. The easiest way to join is to go to www.nyscatholic.org to sign up online, or you can send your name, address, phone number and email address to Catholic Advocacy Network, NY State Catholic Conference, 465 State Street, Albany, NY 12203-1004. Be sure to mention you are from the Diocese of Buffalo.

Click here to read a special edition of the Catholic Education News, prepared by the NYS Catholic Conference.  The newsletter provides an important reminder of the November 4 General Election date on which voters will be asked to consider the Smart School Bond Act.  The newsletter also provides an update on our advocacy efforts for the Education Tax Credit legislation.
