The Board of Trustees of DeSales Catholic School oversees the management
and administration of our School consistent with DeSales’ Philosophy
and Mission Statement: to provide young students with programs of academic
excellence and to afford them opportunities to develop as well rounded
educated Christian citizens.
The Board is comprised of members with diverse talents, skills, and gifts,
that possess a demonstrated interest and committed spirit for furthering
the School’s philosophy and mission. The School’s Canonical
Administrator serves on the Board in an ex officio capacity along with
Trustees who are elected to serve a three year term. The Board considers
candidates seeking to become a Trustee in the Spring of each School year.
Anyone interested in becoming a Trustee can complete the Board of Trustees Application and submit it to the President of the Board by May 1 for consideration.
Standing Committees do the majority of the Board’s work. Each committee
is chaired by a Trustee. However, committee membership is
open to anyone interested in furthering the Mission and Vision of our School--
parents,
grandparents, alumni, faculty, and community members.
The current standing
Committees are:
•
Budget, Finance, and Investment Committee - responsible
for reviewing and recommending to the Board fiscal policies, income
and cost
control procedures, investment practices, an annual budget,
and insurance coverage, and for safeguarding and handling the School’s
investments.
•
Audit and Compliance Committee- responsible for conducting
the independent audit and certification of the School’s financial
operations, implementing internal control systems, overseeing
compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and
undertaking financial risk
management and risk assessment.
•
Education and Quality Assurance Committee- responsible
for reviewing and recommending curriculums, developing and recommending
to
the Board educational policies, and assessing overall school
performance against the School’s strategic plan.
• Spiritual Life Sub-Committee- responsible for assisting the
School leadership team promote the Catholic identity of
the School and the spiritual development of the student body, and serving as
a conduit
between DeSales and the parishes which we serve.
•
Advancement Committee - responsible for overseeing
and managing the School’s non-revenue and revenue activities,
advising the Board on the financial goals of the annual fund and on
any capital
campaign,
reviewing the case statement for all advancement efforts,
coordinating and approving public relations, overseeing
enrollment management, coordinating
alumni relations and engaging in and make recommendations
relating to fundraising.

Facilities Committee - responsible for assisting in
the creation of a campus master plan, conducting a full and thorough
maintenance audit,
and assisting the School’s Director of Facilities with campus
security and the implementation of the campus master plan.
• Strategic Planning Committee - responsible for developing short
and long range strategic plans for the School, coordinating
with Committees and the Board in developing and ensuring the implementation of
implementing
the plans, and monitoring implementation of the plans.
• Recruitment and Retention Committee- responsible for recruiting
new students to the school and for retaining the current
students enrolled at the school.
