The DeSales Education Council, the
policy making board of our school, is charged with serving
the religious and educational needs of our students. The Council is made up of 2 area priests,
2 representatives from the Home School Association, 1 representative
each from St. Patrick's, St. John's and St. Mary's Parishes
of Lockport, and 6 -12 "at large" members, nominated
from applications submitted each year. The Education Council
also includes the Canonical Administrator (similar to the
pastor in a single parish school), the Principal, the Recording
Secretary, the HSA President, and the Development Director,
all as non-voting ex-officio members.

One of the primary
functions of the Council is to keep DeSales financially sound.
This includes preparation of the annual budget, setting appropriate
tuition levels, and monitoring school spending. The Council
is also responsible for the future planning of the school, building
maintenance and repairs, and setting goals for
and facilitating the fund raising activities at DeSales.
Standing Committees
do the majority of the Council's work. Each committee is chaired
by a Council member, but committee membership is open to anyone interested in helping
out - parents, grandparents, alumni, and community members.
Committees are guided by the goals and priorities of our Strategic
Plan, which was developed from the Vision 2000 and 2005 meetings.
The Council meets on the third Tuesday of each month, and
each committee reports on their progress at this time. Current
Standing Committees are:
- Finance - responsible
for the review and formation of all financial policies,
including the Budget, Audit, Income and Cost Control, Investments,
and Insurance.
- Development - responsible
for the review and formation of all Development and Fundraising

with the school's Mission, Philosophy and Goals, developing
short- and long-range plans to insure the School's viability
into the future.
- Spiritual Life - responsible
for the review and formation of all policies relating to
the Catholicity of the school. This includes the spiritual
development of the student body, as well as maintaining
